the essential
The Aude National Rally deputies, Christophe Barthès and Julien Rancoule, responded to the 1st federal secretary of the Aude Socialist Party, Alix Soler-Alcaraz, who had pointed out the “complacency” of the Lepéniste party with the Barnier government.
“The RN is a crutch for the policy led by Michel Barnier”. This sentence, pronounced during a press conference, by the 1st federal secretary of the Socialist Party of Aude, Alix Soler-Alcaraz, had the gift of annoying the Aude deputies of the National Rally, Christophe Barthès and Julien Rancoule. The two parliamentarians decided to respond to him, immediately recalling that they had “notno lessons to receive from the PS and Alix Soler-Alcaraz”. “We must not forget that the socialists called for Emmanuel Macron to vote in the last two presidential elections of 2017 and 2022”relates the Trébéen Christophe Barthès. For his part, Limouxin Julien Rancoule specifies that “the PS is also responsible for the budgetary situation of the country because it has been in power”.
During this press point, the first federal secretary of the PS emphasized with regard to far-right parliamentarians that they “did not want to censor the government. They let it happen, they are locked in their demagoguery. They contradict each other on everything”. Julien Rancoule retorts: “We are not like the New Popular Front (NFP) which wants at all costs to censor the government in place. Today there are three blocs, in the hemicycle, with equal forces. We cannot block the country .”
Another subject raised by the deputies, that of pension reform. Because the NFP deputies voted against the amendment proposed by the RN. “This would have made it possible to bring down this law. But out of sectarianism, they did not vote for it. They are complicit in this situation,” agrees Julien Rancoule.
Budget 2025: it makes or breaks for the RN
However, this blockage, often mentioned in recent weeks, could resurface if the Lepenist party decides to do so. “The government under surveillance” of the Republican Michel Barnier could be censored, “if the 2025 finance law does not suit us, we will not vote for it. We are not stopping ourselves from applying censorship either”confides Julien Rancoule. According to him, recourse to 49.3 is obligatory if the executive wants to pass its budget. “It remains to be seen whether he will keep the amendments that were adopted or not.”
