The political issues in your communes: Will the socialist be on the verge of a historic opening?

Ideological differences at stake

Faced with the rose party, the PTB led by Damien Robert lost a seat on the council and therefore has 10 seats. Big fall for Ecolo led by Paul Ancion who also lost 3 seats out of the 4 that the Green party had occupied until then. “We were approached by the PS after the elections but with only one seat on the council, it was impossible to negotiate anything.”explains Paul Ancion.

On the other hand, the MR Engagés Défi Ensemble group recovered these 4 seats to add them to the 4 others that they already had thanks to the MR, led by Fabian Culot.

A rise in power which was intended to rival the PTB. But now, both parties had clearly announced that they wanted to join the majority. In reaction to the election results, Mayor Déborah Géradon then affirmed that the PS was also open to proposals and discussions with other parties.

Obviously the negotiations have not yet been successful. This decision would lie in the fact that the ideological points of view were too different to reach an agreement, whether with the MR Engagés Défi Ensemble or the PTB.

Nothing signed

More “the dialogue is not broken”shade Fabian Culot. “The situation is constantly evolving, I will speak at the beginning of next week”he adds.

For the moment, Déborah Géradon’s PS should continue its journey alone with its small absolute majority.

But nothing has yet been signed, which still leaves room for an alliance…

Seraing: Déborah Géradon is a hit in first position followed by the PTB closely followed by MR Engagés Défi Ensemble
