Fairground Arts Museum
From Dec. 27 2024 to January 5 2025
It's a well-kept secret. There is a time machine in Paris that only comes to life a few days a year. Lurking in the old cellars of Bercy, the Museum of Fairground Arts drags us and draws us into the dizzying din of an authentic Belle Époque funfair with its old carousels, its ballet of automatons and its Venetian salons. The day after Christmas, the Wonderful Festival keeps us in a waking dream by waking up puppets, carousels and century-old attractions with the charm of yesteryear. Come closer, come closer! The journey can begin. The characters of Commedia dell'arte Harlequin, Pierrot and Columbine open the ball with an operatic tune, as the shadows dance on the walls. In this decor draped with heavy red curtains, it is difficult to distinguish true from false, the magic of dreams from reality. However, these are good true storytellers, aerial dancers, tightrope walkers and acrobats who liven up this enchanted parenthesis until we too perform on the historic velocipede or on the stage of one of the last magic mirrors in the world.
