The body of a 63-year-old man was discovered on Tuesday, November 5, at an entrance to the Saint-Jacques parking lot in downtown Metz. The man was lying on the ground, along a wall, in a parking space, as if sleeping, curled up, his body and face covered with a khaki duvet.
According to our information, the man arrived in the parking lot during the night of November 4 to 5, around 5 a.m. He parked in the first parking space, near the entrance ramp located at the Novotel level.
The presence of a person lying down has been reported several times to the parking lot operator since the morning. “It was in a very visible location. It was around 9 a.m., I was leaving for work, driving my vehicle, when I passed him. I thought he was sleeping soundly, I honked the horn and continued on my way,” recalls a motorist.
Firefighters and police were called around 2 p.m.
The victim was known to social services to have been taken care of until April “without ever having caused any difficulty”.
No information on the reasons for his death has, at this time, been communicated.
