This is a warning signal that we are sending to the Government“. These are the words of the president of the -Atlantique Departmental Council on his X account, formerly Twitter. Michel Ménard has indeed reposted a video made by two of its agents to denounce a “budget impasse“.

A shortfall of 150 million euros

Major means are used, with a large “SOS Budget” displayed at the start of the video. “On the one hand, we have exploding expenses“, testifies a departmental agent in the video. And on the other hand, the State is still asking communities to tighten up their activities. Hence the situation denounced in this video. It would be lacking almost 150 million euros to the Loire-Atlantique Departmental Council to complete its forecast budget for 2025.

Michel Ménard, the president of the department, points out the same problem for all the other departments, also obliged to tighten their belts at the request of the State. Generally speaking, the government plans significant restrictions to keep its 2025 budget in order to make nearly 60 billion euros in savings.
