Mobile as its name indicates, the BTM, which benefits from its own means of travel (two vehicles and six electric flights) will have its own missions close to the population, from which it will be able to collect complaints in particular while traveling, but it will also support other brigades in the territory depending on needs.

At the start of the 2000s, five hundred brigades had been abolished. There, 238 brigades and 2,100 posts will be created throughout the territory. These creations constitute the main measure of the Ministry of the Interior's orientation and programming law of January 24, 2023, which devotes a budgetary effort of 15 billion euros over five years.

The Petite Camargue Costières mobile territorial brigade is the first of three to be created in Gard. The other two should be in Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort and Saint-Jean-du-Gard.
