A 44-year-old man was indicted for “voluntary violence by an ascendant against a minor under the age of 15” and must be tried in March 2025, after trying to abandon his six-year-old son in the middle of the Liverdun forest. The events took place near Nancy, in the vicinity of Frouard (Meurthe-et-Moselle), on October 31. The father would have wanted to “punish” his child for his unruly behavior in a recreational center on the same day, reports The Republican East.
Head trauma
When getting out of the car, the boy apparently panicked and held on to the handle of a door of the vehicle as it restarted. He was dragged about ten meters. The father finally took his son to the hospital: he suffered from head trauma and wounds to his face and hands. He would also be in a state of shock. The caregivers suspected acts of abuse and contacted the police, who placed the man in police custody.
Under judicial supervision
The suspect claims for his part that he broke down in the forest and that the accident occurred while he was asking his son to get out of the car to maneuver. Released and placed under judicial supervision, he is strictly prohibited from having contact with his son until the trial.
