Since the summer of 2022, Montpon-Menestérol handball (MMHB) has rebuilt its senior women's team, which has been missing for several years. After a first season of running-in, the bet is rather successful. Indeed, the Montponnaises achieved a rise to the regional level at the end of last season.
“We managed to rebuild a quality group, including former Montponnaises,” explains Noé Blanc, the women’s coach. Some girls had played at a higher level and just wanted to play again for fun. » Enough to achieve regional excellence in just two seasons.

This Saturday, November 9, at 9 p.m., at the Cousset gymnasium, a new challenge awaits Montpon with the reception of the Bergerac reserve. Bergeracoises who lost in their first three outings since the start of the season. But Noé Blanc wants to be extremely careful. “It’s a Division 2 reserve,” he recalls. In any case, even if the MMHB continues its momentum, a further rise to the next level is not really possible for the coach. “The club will not follow financially, in terms of travel. We prefer first to perpetuate the team at this level and train young players within the club. The girls know it. »
