SURVEY – The latest Odoxa-Backbone Consulting study for Le Figaro reveals that more than half of French people have a bad image of Trump and fear his decisions on the international and financial level.
The French do not hold Donald Trump in their hearts. While the New York billionaire was re-elected president of the United States, more than three-quarters of French people (76%) say they are “dissatisfied” with this result, reveals a survey carried out by Odoxa-Backbone Consulting for Le Figaropublished this Thursday, November 7. The Republican thus ranks among the international political figures least appreciated by the French, alongside Vladimir Putin.
Nearly two thirds (62%) of French people surveyed – out of a sample of 1,005 citizens aged over 18 – were not surprised by his election, whereas it was exactly the opposite in 2016: 63% were then surprised. Citizens aged over 65 appear to be the most hostile to the new American head of state (85%, compared to 66% among 18-24 year olds). Women (81%) are also more dissatisfied than men (71%).
