Closure of the road to the summit of Mont Ventoux, triggering of the winter viability plan, creation of a greenway, or even restructuring of colleges. What work is planned by the Department of in November?

Like every year in November, the Department of Vaucluse will close the RD974 which gives access to the summit of the Giant of Provence. The date will be set for Friday November 15 or Friday November 22 depending on changes in weather conditions.

The Arbalestière roundabout, located on the RD28 between Vedène and Morières-lès-, will undergo planing work and renewal of the wearing course on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 November from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A local diversion will be in place.

In mid-November, the Department will launch its winter road plan, which aims to guarantee the safety of users on all departmental roads, particularly in the event of snowfall or the formation of ice. Road center agents will focus on three areas: anticipation, mobilization and security. Please note that winter tires (or equivalent equipment) have been compulsory in certain municipalities in Vaucluse since November 1.

Other projects in progress

  • Development between the Coudoulet roundabout in and the RD975 (Route de Camaret). The work on OA 9 (railway crossing) is now complete. Work on OA 7 (reestablishment of Chemin de Nogaret) is continuing and work on OA 10 will start this month.
  • Repair of the retaining wall on the RD77 in Mallemort-du-Comtat. The work began on October 21 for four weeks. A closed road has been set up with a diversion through Mazan.
  • Since July, the Department of Vaucluse has been building a cycle path along the RD901 between L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Le Thor. The RD901 roadway will also be resurfaced between the two roundabouts. Work is expected to continue until January 2025.
  • Rehabilitation of the Lou Vignarès college in Vedène. The work began in February 2023. The work of phases 2 (restructuring and extension of the administrative buildings) and 3 (move into the administrative buildings, dismantling and evacuation of the temporary college and development of the courtyard and fences) is taking place until in January 2026.
  • Construction of the new Memento building, the Vaucluse heritage center in Avignon. Completion of this project is scheduled for the end of the year.
  • Extension of the 'Book and Reading' service to Sorgues. The work started at the beginning of April and will last 14 months.
  • Construction of the new Departmental House for Disabled People (MDPH) in Avignon. Construction began in September for 18 months.
  • Restructuring of Tavan college in Montfavet. The work started in July for a duration of 7 months.
