Cyril Briant, human resources manager for Maine-et-Loire at Loste, represented his company at employment meetings, which is recruiting 400 people for the end-of-year holidays. Interview.
Can you introduce your business?
Cyril Briant: Loste has 1,700 employees in total. The company has ten production sites. We employ 200 employees on the Mesnil-en-Vallée site, 70 in the Saint-Florent-le-Vieil factory and 50 on the logistics platform. For the end-of-year holiday period, we are recruiting 400 additional people for missions ranging from 1 to 8 weeks. We are one of the largest employers in Mauges-sur-Loire. Recently, the company expanded the Mesnil factory and doubled the logistics platform. Land adjoining the logistics platform is planned for the relocation of the Saint-Florent factory
.
What profiles are you looking for?
We employ temporary workers and fixed-term contracts for missions ranging from 1 to 8 weeks with varied profiles: students, retirees and also job seekers. 20% of these people will be able to stay within the company. The professions are varied: cooks, handlers, in manufacturing (scallops, queen-sized bites), order preparers, maintenance technicians, etc.
What assessment do you draw from these employment meetings?
For us, this meeting comes at a good time. Our needs are very high in November and December. However, we are still short of staff. For the record, we recruited one person today (Tuesday). She will be hiring tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4 a.m. for packaging. For the end-of-year holiday period, we are setting up a free shuttle adapted to employment schedules for employees: 12 seats from Angers and 24 seats, i.e. two 12-seat buses, to Châteaubriant. We also offer incentives for carpooling.

There were 366 of them at the employment meetings
Tuesday November 5, the 2e edition of employment meetings, organized at the Salle de la Bergerie in Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, was attended by 366 participants. This event was organized by the municipalities of Mauges-sur-Loire and Orée-d'Anjou, in partnership with Mauges Communauté, the objective being to support companies in their recruitment.
Cap emploi, the social centers, France Travail and the Local Mission joined forces with communities to offer this highlight dedicated to employment, the opportunity to meet recruiting companies in the same place. Visitors were able to meet and benefit from personalized discussion time with local companies who are looking for candidates for employment and submit their CVs. This meeting, appreciated, will certainly be repeated.
Daphnée Subileau, project manager, employment and training at Mauges Communauté, recalled: The unemployment rate in the metropolitan area is 4.2%. Recruiting for businesses is complicated. However, there are always job seekers but also people who want to change direction. The objective of local authorities is to get closer to businesses and job seekers by creating small local events.”
Before concluding: 31 local companies were represented for 50 professions on Tuesday afternoon, with sectors such as agriculture, agri-food, transport, personal assistance… It's a win-win meeting, with companies being able to offer training to meet their needs, example with Cordier transport
