The AVA collective (Abolition of hunting today) France, in videos and photos published on his social networks on Friday, November 1, denounced a hunt that took place on Saturday, October 26 in the Orléans forest. Among the criticisms addressed by activists to hunters, the passage of crews to the Etang des Bois leisure center in Vieilles-Maisons-sur-Joudry, and the proximity of horses and dogs to walkers. No rules have been broken, retorted this Wednesday, November 6, the national venery association.
“At no time was anyone put in danger”
“They want hunting to no longer exist. So they each time show relatively sophisticated scenarios in which they invent situations that do not exist.” declares Antoine Gallon, the communications manager of the national venerie association, contacted by France Bleu Orléans. This October 26, swimming at the Etang des Bois is closed due to the autumn period. “At no time was anyone put in danger, since this hunt did not come across any residents of the forest.” continues Antoine Gallon, who believes that the AVA France collective, which states the opposite, is seeking to harm hunting with hounds. This particular hunt had been declared, part of the Orléans forest had been rented since the summer to this effect with the National Forestry Office.
“Exaggerated” scenes, but a complaint filed
At the Etang des Bois leisure center in Vieilles-Maisons-sur-Joudry, there is a campsite, the manager of which was present on the day of the hounds hunt. He believes that certain scenes recounted by AVA activists are exaggerated. “The deer and the dogs were never found among the bungalows” he assures, the campsite being completely closed this season. According to him, and according to the press release published by the Société de Vènerie, hunting with hounds mainly took place towards the bottom of the Etang des Bois, near the Etang d'Orléans, and not on the leisure center itself or its beach.
AVA activists filed a complaint. Not against hunting, but because they found their car tires flat at the end of their action. A vandalism that they attribute to a member of the hunting crew.
