The Orezza water steering committee has just started its work this Wednesday, November 6 in the village of Rapaggio, in the presence of Gilles Simeoni, the president of the executive council of Corsica.
This body created in 2021, in which the mayors of Castagniccia, company employees and representatives of the associative world are associated, will look into the future of the source – property of the Collectivity of Corsica – from 23 February 2025.
On this date, the rental management contract through which a private company (SNEEMO) has operated the site since 1998 expires. The various stakeholders in the case are considering modifying this legal framework.
Last Monday, November 4, in our columns, Gilles Simeoni confirmed that the preferred route consisted of entrusting the exploitation of the source to a cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC) created for this purpose.
According to our information, this mixed structure would have as partners, the Collectivity of Corsica (up to 50%), a group made up of the 14 municipalities of the microregion and the intercommunality of Castagniccia-Casinca (10%), employees and a or several private operators designated subsequently.
It is this arrangement that today needs to be finalized, particularly with regard to the distribution of the remaining capital between employees and the private operator(s).
In any case, the creation of the SCIC will have to be the subject of a vote by the Corsican Assembly. This should take place at the end of November.
