Surdos, repiniques, snare drums, tambourines, agogo bells and sabars, so manypercussion instruments with names that are often little known, but which, all together, form a groupe musical that you must have heard at least once: Bat’Macadam.
Since its creation in 2003the batucada has never stopped traveling the roads of Jura and moreover, according to invitations to perform at festive events. “In 2000when I set up the Courlaoux music school, we quickly had a majority of percussion players with whom we set up a batucada for fun. And this sparked vocations. So I trained with a specialist in the genre and, quickly, we decided to formalize the creation of our group,” explains Pierre Melotthe director of the music school and musical director of Bat'Macadam.
Forty musicians
From the start, the Corlavoise batucada is made up of a twenties of percussionists to reach forty Today. “At one point, we even went up to fifty musicians. »
Today composed of more than 80% women and musicians aged 25 to 70Bat'Macadam plays as many reprises that original creations“all punctuated by the parade and the body movementsessential notions for batucada which is very linked to carnivals. »
And percussionists have made many carnivals. “We have of course gone several times to Offenburgtwin town of Lons-le-Saunier, but also regularly at the Évian carnival and the Gérardmer daffodil festival, without forgetting the Soufflaculs of Saint-Claude,” lists Pierre Melot.
“But our most beautiful memory is our participation in the Nice carnival in 2014 for five days! » At the same time, the batucada is also service provider and performs on request at numerous regional festivals.
An exceptional concert
While waiting to be able to meet them during regional events, you will be able to find them from 8 p.m., Saturday November 30, 2024 au Beef on the roof of Lons-le-Saunierfor a free concert on the occasion of their 20th anniversary. “A concert with SabarDoum in the first part – a group of ten percussionists from Bat'Macadam – and for which we will also be accompanied by The Drums of the Odysseya group of around ten drummers. »
Once this anniversary concert is over, all that will remain for Pierre Melot is to achieve his final objective: “That of me find a replacement as musical director within five years, before I left the group. »
