L'Écho de la peninsula met Miléna Surreau, at her home near Guérande (-Atlantique) after her participation in the 2024 Paralympic Games and before the resumption of parabadminton competitions. First to date the French championships in Valencia from October 31, 2024 to November 3, 2024.

“A special flavor”

And it was in that Miléna Surreau regained her title of French champion, won in 2022 but which she was unable to replay in 2023 due to health reasons.

“This time, the performance has an even more special flavor since we were grouped in SL4/SU5. So I played in the semi-final and final against players who only had an arm disability. I was able to use the tactical and technical knowledge acquired this Paralympic year to compensate for the fact that I could not compete physically,” explains the athlete.

In mixed doubles, with Mathieu Thomas, she won the silver medal.

Heading to the Spanish International Open

A graduate of the Saint-Molf badminton club, where she lives, Miléna Surreau goes 4 times a week to the Creps performance center (Center for resources, expertise and sports performance) in , where the gold medalist Charles Noakes.

In his sights, the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028. But in the short term, it will be the Spanish International Open in 2025, followed by numerous international competitions to rank and be selected for 2028.
