A window of the stele in tribute to the victims of the attack on the Strasbourg Christmas market on December 11, 2018 was broken during the night from Monday to Tuesday, reports France Bleu Alsace, Tuesday November 5. Municipal police discovered her this Tuesday morning. This monument was installed at Place de la République, in Strasbourg, in December 2019, on the first anniversary of the attack which left five dead.

An investigation is open, police tell France Bleu Alsace. The video surveillance images must make it possible to determine whether it is an act of vandalism or an accident. In a press release, the city of Strasbourg affirms that the stele was “vandalized” and announces that she “will file a complaint.” Jeanne Barseghian, mayor of the city and Jacques Witkowski, prefect of Bas-Rhin “condemn with the greatest firmness the unacceptable deterioration of this place of contemplation.”
