The next generation is getting ready.

The Jura-cyclisme club organized its traditional autumn holiday cyclo-cross course on Wednesday October 23, bringing together 27 young riders (6 to 17 years old) supervised by around ten educators. An intense day that combines technical training and preparation for competition, in the wake of promising champions.

Complete training on a suitable site

The training day, which takes place on the site of the old tennis courts, is carefully organized. “ The morning is reserved for warming up with outings on the surrounding paths“, explains Claude Monrolin. After a lunch prepared by the volunteers, the young cyclists practice in the afternoon on a cyclo-cross circuit specially designed by the club, even including a staircase for the more experienced. An agility course, equipped thanks to the support of the Rotary Club in 2023, completes the facilities.

From the start at the club, young people are introduced to the specificities of cyclo-cross with adapted bikes: “ We make them buy cyclo-cross bikes directly, so they only have to change the wheels for the road in the spring“, specifies Claude.

A pool of inspiring champions

The club can pride itself on training future champions. Like Théo Delacroix and more recently Théophile Vassal, leading the French cyclo-cross cup after his victories on October 19 and 20; he is currently preparing for the European Championships with the French team. A source of inspiration for the youngest members of the club.
« We are a training clubunderlines Claude. We're a little sad when we see them leave, but so proud when they succeed at a high level ».
