An 18-year-old girl died Monday at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. Placed in a coma for nine days, she did not survive her serious injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle in Épinay-sur-Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis) on the evening of October 27. She opened the door and fell heavily onto the asphalt, reports Le Parisien.
For the moment, the precise circumstances of the facts are still unclear. According to a first version, the victim was sexually assaulted by the driver with whom she had a date. She jumped out of the car to escape him. But for his part, the man aged around thirty claims to have fallen into an ambush set by several young people.
The 30-year-old was arrested and then placed in police custody for 48 hours. He was later released without charge. But when she came out, the young girl was still in a coma. The Bobigny public prosecutor's office could thus decide to reclassify the facts. Three young people were also arrested and indicted for “attempted extortion in a meeting”.
