Snow tires or special equipment: are we at risk of being fined this winter on the roads of Lozère?

Special equipment is compulsory in the Lozère department from November to March.

It is prohibited to drive in Lozère without special winter equipment for your vehicle from 1is November to March 31. After two “white” years, without fines, will the plums fall this winter? Well, it's not that simple!

The obligation for special equipment is not yet accompanied by repressive provisions. According to logic, this should be a ticket of 4e class (€135 fine). The offense exists, but is not yet accompanied by a sanction.

Insurance companies on the alert

So, calm down? Not so sure. Because the motorist caught at fault could also be fined for non-compliance with the prefectural decree. This is a fine of 2e class (€35).

Above all, insurance companies are starting to think about the possibility of not covering users who have been careless.

For all practical purposes, be aware that special equipment means winter tires, but also socks or chains.
