This Tuesday, November 5, 2024, nearly 80 CGT railway workers from the region (Bourges, Orléans-Les Aubrais, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, Tours, Vierzon as well as many retirees) demonstrated their fierce opposition to the compulsory complementary health insurance that would like to impose the management of the GPU (Unified Public Group) SNCF.
“A political choice”
“Supplementary health insurance is not obligatory for railway workers governed by the Statute, nor is it even completely necessary”recalled Stéphane Demarre, CGT railway union leader, “since the benefits of the special welfare scheme are higher than the general scheme. So it is indeed a political choice which is made by the management of the SNCF. »
Unlike the other trade union organizations which initialed the national inter-professional agreement on January 11, 2013, which sets up compulsory complementary health insurance, the CGT railway workers warns: “Many railway workers have not yet understood what awaits them with this project. » Such an agreement, according to her, will sound the death knell for railway mutuals and will eliminate intergenerational solidarity; will lead to the deletion […] benefits inherent to the special regime.
