This couple has been separated for seven years but, “to see the animals” that they had in common, this 55-year-old from Argentan sometimes visited his ex-partner, who now lives in Essay (Orne).
Large bruises on the arms
On June 15, 2024, one of these visits turned into an argument. The insults flew, the fifty-year-old pushed the victim onto his sofa, grabbed a tablet with which he hit him several times. In view of the significant bruising on the victim's arms, a medical certificate determined five days of ITT (total temporary incapacity assesses the importance of the injuries). The magistrates had to be satisfied with the photos in the file, showing the injuries and the broken furniture. “He has difficulty managing his emotions”notes the prosecution, which emphasizes that the defendant already has five entries in his criminal record since 2020. “Yes, but only traffic offenses: my client is not known to be violent”tempered the defense lawyer.
The fifty-year-old was sentenced to three months in prison with a two-year probationary suspension: to avoid prison, he will have to register in a center for the care of perpetrators of domestic violence (CPCA), and refrain from appearing at home of his ex-partner and even to contact her.
