Lavelanet. In memory of all those who died for France

Like every year, November 1st is the day chosen by the French Remembrance Association to honor “the memory of all the dead of all the wars which have mourned our country”. The participants first gathered and gathered in front of the plaque in the Square du Souvenir Français. It was then in a procession that they headed towards a renovated and beautified military square in the Bensa cemetery impeccably maintained by the municipality. The parade was opened by the Coq Lavelanétien fanfare. Several local elected officials were accompanied by representatives of the gendarmerie and firefighters as well as anonymous people. Loyal to the post, associations of veterans and their standard bearers completed the assistance. Georges Delmas, president of Souvenir Français, read the message from his association with emotion. “It is necessary to support teachers. It is up to them to have the ardent obligation to teach the pages of our history and in particular those of liberation, of which this is the 8th anniversary. Our slogan, “No student must not leave school without having visited at least one place of combatant memory”, is today, more than ever, relevant”, he declared. Associated with the Rooster Lavelanétien, the philharmonic society provided the musical parts of this commemoration. After laying wreaths, all the participants went to pay their respects in front of the city's war memorial, thus closing this beautiful ceremony.
