The president of the rural mayors of Orne François Carbonell died this Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 66. The mayor of Vitrai-sous-L'Aigle, re-elected in 2020 for a fifth term, was swept away by illness. A retired journalist, he was very involved in local community life, particularly in the fight against illiteracy.

Vice-president of the community of communes of Pays de L'Aigle for thirty years, François Carbonell directed the intercommunal social action center (CIAS) of the local authority for two terms. Since his last election, he has been in charge of town planning.
