Events follow one another in the library network of the Vallée de l'Hérault community of communes. November will be Doc Month.
It is a national event that has become unmissable. This 25th edition, with the theme “Little Planet”, will be available, for this third year, in six meetings in certain libraries in the region. The initiative aims to promote documentaries and raise public awareness of important societal issues. This is also part of the dynamics of the network of libraries in the Hérault Valley, to bring these places to life as spaces for meeting and opening up to the world.
Different artistic universes
The programming is varied, with different artistic universes: street art, circus, music or theater. First evening Tuesday November 5 in Gignac with a film by Nicolas Philibert, the director of “Etre et avoir”. “Sur l'Adamant” describes life on board this vessel floating on the Seine, which has become a unique day center of its kind. In this structure, adult patients suffering from psychiatric disorders try to reconnect with the world, thanks to a medical team which tries to resist the decay of psychiatry (8 p.m., at the media library).
It was in Marseille that the feminist movement of collages on walls appeared, to denounce sexist violence and feminicide. “I will cry on your walls” will be screened on Friday November 15, in the Aniane village hall, in the presence of directors Elodie Sylvain and Charlotte Ricco (at 7 p.m., free aperitif).
Thursday, November 21, “The Solitude of the Squire” by Zoé Lamazou, traces the story of Nolwen, an acrobat in a family circus, who tries to gain her independence and create her own show. The session will take place in the presence of the director, and will be followed by a shared meal, each person bringing their specialty (at 7 p.m., Gignac media library).
“Political Women”, by Daniel Bouy, evokes the journey of a collective of residents of Stains (93) who denounce the educational conditions of their children, faced with inequality of resources in schools in working-class neighborhoods. To discover Saturday November 23 at the Tressan library (6 p.m., free aperitif).
Women in the light
Friday November 29 in Vendémian, women will once again be in the spotlight with two short films. “Song and Freedom”, by Jean-Gabriel Périot focuses on the work of mezzo-soprano Malika Bellaribi-Le Moal, who offers lyrical singing workshops to women and men from the Paris and Lyon suburbs. It will be followed by “Hiddden”, by director Jafar Panahi, following in the footsteps of a young woman with a magnificent voice, but prohibited from singing by the Iranian religious authority (from 7 p.m., free aperitif).
Finally, Saturday November 30, in Montarnaud, closing in music with “The positive energy of the gods”. The director, Laetitia Moller, tells the story of Stanislas, Yohann, Aurélien and Kévin, singers of the group Asteréotypie. These young autistic people reveal themselves in their wildly poetic texts and their electric rock, encouraged by an educator (at 6 p.m.).
