Tuesday June 11, 2024the inhabitants of Cahors will witness an unusual spectacle: a Army Gazelle helicopter will land around 5 p.m. on the Allées Fénelon, in full city center.

A military ceremony in Cahors

This event will take place as part of the ceremony organized by the 9th airmobile support regiment of Montauban (9e RSAM) on Tuesday June 11 on the Allées Fénelon in Cahors. This landing is scheduled from 5 p.m. and before 5:30 p.m. A municipal decree, as well as the internal security forces, will prohibit access to the aisles during the installation phase.

This military ceremony will take place just after, from 6:30 p.m. on the Allées Fénelon in Cahors.

Chaired by Colonel Thibaut Ravel, commander of the regiment, it will be composed of several highlights such as: a presentation of the troops to the standard of the regiment newly decorated with the aeronautics medal, a presentation of medals, the evocation of Sainte-Clotilde, patron saint of light aviation of the Army (feast day June 4), an agenda.

This ceremony will be followed by a cocktail for the guests at Villa Cahors Malbec.

A rapprochement between Cahors and the 9th RSAM of Montauban

The organization of this ceremony in the heart of the Quercy capital constitutes a first step in a process of rapprochement currently underway between the city of Cahors and the 9th RSAM. This rapprochement will affirm the anchorage in Quercy of the regiment, whose flight squadron has just formalized its twinning with the city of Rocamadour, thus strengthening the links which unite the nation with its armies.

The establishment for almost 70 years of a military unit dedicated to aeronautical maintenance, combined with special links with the city of Cahors, will ultimately legitimize the name “Regiment du Quercy” for the 9th RSAM.
