The skeleton of a septuagenarian who disappeared last April was discovered by a hunter in a wooded area in the Regret district of Verdun, reveals Midi Libre. This resident of Thierville-sur-Meuse had not given any news since April 19. A call for witnesses was launched by the Meuse national police to try to find her.

DNA testing confirmed the identity of the remains, reigniting an investigation that had recently been reclassified as intentional homicide.

The daughter and son-in-law of the deceased in police custody

The announcement of the discovery led to the daughter of the deceased and her companion being taken into custody as part of the investigations. Although these measures were quickly lifted, questions remain in the context of this complex investigation.

The hypothesis of intentional homicide

Initially opened for “disturbing disappearance”, the investigation was reclassified as “voluntary homicide” at the end of October. A autopsy and anthropological analyzes are underway to determine whether traces of violence allow us to confirm the intervention of a third party in this dramatic disappearance.
