Elected first runner-up to Miss Creuse, Camille Parinet hesitates between two diametrically opposed professional careers: modeling and the funeral profession. At 18, she has just completed an internship in a funeral home in Bourganeuf.
Since the start of the school year, she has swapped her Miss scarf and gala dresses for a black pantsuit and discreet makeup. Camille Parinet is training as a funeral advisor. After a period of courses and an internship, she should obtain her diploma by the end of the year.
At 18, she chose an atypical professional path. “Actually, I have two plans: find a funeral home to be hired as a master of ceremonies or pallbearer, or do some modeling. I would really like both things. »
A shyness to be tamed
For the last four weeks, the young woman was on an internship at the Bord funeral directors in Bourganeuf. She was able to see all facets of the job, not just welcoming families and choosing flowers. “She put in a lot of effort. She did everything, notes David Bord, her internship supervisor. Young people like that who ask us for internships, there are a few requests but it's rare. »
Camille Parinet had been thinking about funeral careers for several years. But his shyness prevented him from taking the plunge. “I'm not someone who is very comfortable with people, so being in training with strangers is not easy. I needed a little time to get started. Miss Creuse helped me a lot. »
The young woman ran for the election last May. She was elected first runner-up to Miss Creuse 2024. “It’s a good experience. We meet lots of people, new people. »
It's nice to see people smile when they see Misses.
Her beautiful smile, her green eyes and her long blonde hair undoubtedly won over the competition jury. His atypical professional career may also have worked in his favor. In October, she participated in the Miss Limousin election in Couzeix, near Limoges.
His family worked in the funeral business
Camille Parinet knows the world of funerals well. His stepfather ran a funeral home in Bourganeuf and his mother was an embalmer. They are no longer in this business today.
The girl did not move in this direction right away. After college in Bourganeuf, she completed a Baccalaureate in “horse racing business management” in Corrèze.
I am passionate about horses, she says. But working in this environment is special.
She finally opted for the family route. “Two years ago I lost my grandfather. That's when I told myself that this is what I wanted to do. Helping people, being by their side in these difficult times, that the family leaves with a good image of the person, it's important. It is not because a person has died that they do not have the right to leave in good conditions, well presented, with respect. »
She would like to be an embalmer
It's not the job of funeral advisor that interests Camille Parinet the most. “What I would like to do is embalming, preparation and care of the body,” she assures. But for that, you have to have the Baccalaureate and unfortunately I didn't have it. »
The young woman therefore plans to become a master of ceremonies or a funeral pallbearer. “During my internship, I was able to carry at a funeral with three men. We see very few women among the porters. It's good to diversify. Of course it's physically hard. But I think it's in the head. It takes mentality to do this job. We see difficult things. Seeing families in mourning is not easy. You have to know how to remain professional. »
Change the image of the profession
Camille Parinet does not seem afraid of the idea of dealing with the bodies of deceased people. “My friends tell me they couldn’t do that. For me it's something natural. I admit that I wasn't very well the first time I saw an embalmer providing care. That impressed me. But it confirmed my idea that I liked it. »
The young woman would like to take advantage of her little notoriety as Miss to change the image of the funeral sector.
It's a job that can be scary. We don't hear much about it, even though there are plenty of interesting things.
But before launching into this field, Camille Parinet would like to try to make a living from her other passion: modeling. She registered on websites. “I would like to do fashion shows or photos for brands. » We may soon see the pretty Creuseoise on the fashion catwalks.
