Home stretch ! This Saturday June 8 and Sunday June 9, 2024, the village of Normée, near Fère-Champenoise, in the south of the Marne, is hosting the Marne Agriculture Festival. Organized by the department’s Young Farmers’ Union, it promises to make noise. And not just a little! The flagship animation of this edition is tractor pulling.

This is the unmissable part of this festival which aims to be friendly for farmers and the general public. The discipline of tractor pulling has arrived and is ready to amaze you. It is a motorsport that pits modified tractors against each other to pull a heavy load on a dirt track. Several sessions will be scheduled during these days. First on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with local farmers, then in the evening, from 10 p.m., for a nighttime and professional version. On Sunday, tractor pulling will again be in the spotlight twice.

The 2e round of the French tractor pulling championship contested in the Marne

Note that eight tractors from the French Tractor Pulling Federation will be present. In addition to the demonstrations, they will participate over the two days in the second round of the French tractor pulling championship, “Limited super stocks” category. “We want an audience! Riding in front of spectators is a personal reward given the time we spend on our machines”points out Thierry Caillette, president of the National Federation.

Other activities are added to the event. Concerts will be organized in particular, as will the exhibition of tractors and old agricultural equipment. A mini farm and a children’s area will be open. Local associations and partners will also exhibit. A local flavor will also be brought. A producers’ market on Sunday will highlight the culinary heritage.

The Young Farmers of Marne have been working on the project for two years and have a budget of 130,000 euros. Around 10,000 people are expected.
