Geneviève*, lives near the footbridge which spans the railway between Boulevard de Verdun and the Rennes University Hospital. She sees the traffic on this pedestrian bridge from her window and today admits to having changed her habits so as not to come home too late in the evening, for fear of an attack.
“There have already been attacks here, at the exit of the Anatole France metro, including a young man who was traumatized.” remembers this retiree.
The tragedy that unfolded last night, and the death of a 19-year-old young man, does not leave her indifferent: “we are upset. When it happens in our neighborhood, we are even more affected” she admits.
The turn of events worries all residents of this downtown area, to the point that some are now considering moving. “Owe fear… we fear for us and for the young people who come home late at night” testifies this resident.

The traffic in this street in Rennes is known to everyone, residents and police officers alike. The police patrol there regularly and a clean-up operation was even carried out there, “about two years agohe thinks he remembers Geneviève.
The traffickers then deserted the area, but the respite was short-lived.
According to this resident, traffic has intensified over the past 3 or 4 years and she finds that “there, it’s escalation.”
Although it is not yet possible to confirm the link between these two attacks and drug trafficking, suspicions are high. The two victims are in fact known to the police for drug trafficking.

Frédéric Gallet insists on the trauma that this type of event creates “These settling of scores are very anxiety-inducing for colleagues and residents of the neighborhood. They feel permanently insecure.”
The representative of the police emphasizes what he has already said to the advisers of the Minister of the Interior: “To fight against this drug, we need men on the ground and investigating.“
During his visit, Bruno Retailleau said he wanted to make the fight against drug trafficking a major national cause, and mentioned 5 reinforcements of police officers for the Maurepas district. Very insufficient for the police unions who are demanding between 115 and 150 additional police officers. .
