It's now time for the three friends who are members of the Boobs'N Roses association. On October 30, Sophie Sirin, Valérie Vergnolle and Julie Mouret flew to Morocco, heading to the Merzouga region, in the east of the country, to take part in the Rose Trip adventure. A trek organized by the Désertours travel agency which “opens the doors of the Moroccan desert to those who thirst for adventure. »

The Rose Trip trek takes place over six days, four of which are dedicated to racing in teams of three using a compass, a map, a topographical protractor and a GPS distance counter. On the program, several orientation stages “where any notion of speed is excluded”. 110 teams are entered this year in this Moroccan event.

A test for a good cause

“It was Julie who initiated the project because she wanted to do something a little crazy to highlight the cause. After having eliminated all the sporting and financial constraints, there was no longer any reason not to embark on the adventure”explains Valérie Vergnolle.

They then created an association, in March 2023, to raise funds for Ruban Rose, Jeune et Rose and Enfants du Désert, three associations with which the race organizer collaborates. The girls, for their part, added the Bergonié Institute in to the list, to anchor the project locally.

“We have physical and virtual beacons to catch so as not to be disqualified.”

Every evening, the girls will have to prepare their map independently, making sure to take the shortest route possible. “We have physical and virtual beacons to catch so as not to be disqualified. But to be well prepared on this side too, we found a hiking enthusiast on the networks who introduced us to the use of the compass and the topographical protractor,” explains Julie Mouret.

Beyond this race, the three friends hope to continue their association to “finance support for sick people hospitalized either on an outpatient basis or in long-term care. This can make it possible to offer care kits to ladies who stay longer than expected,” concludes Valérie Vergnolle.
