The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested on Thursday four individuals supporters of the Daesh terrorist group for their alleged involvement in the preparation of the execution of terrorist plans targeting to seriously undermine public order.
Elements of the Special Forces reporting to the DGST initiated intervention and arrest procedures, as part of separate and simultaneous operations targeting the suspects, aged 21 to 41, in the cities of Salé, Tangier and Tetouan, indicates a BCIJ press release.
The searches carried out at the homes of the accused led to the seizure of electronic equipment and bladed weapons of different sizes, as well as a fabric Daesh standard and a set of manuscripts of an extremist nature. These include the text of “allegiance” to this terrorist group, in addition to publications on “martyrdom operations” and the method of manufacturing and assembling explosive devices.
According to preliminary data of the investigation, the suspects, who imbued themselves with the extremist ideology of Daesh and declared their allegiance to the so-called “emir” of this organization, were planning extremely dangerous terrorist projects targeting vital and sensitive installations in Morocco, the press release continued, adding that those involved effectively adhered to the preparation of these plans by observing and identifying the targets.
The investigation demonstrated that the suspects, who had acquired expertise in the field of manufacturing explosive devices, had established links with Daesh leaders operating abroad, so that they could support and claim their subversive projects immediately after their perpetration in the country.
The suspects were placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation carried out by the BCIJ under the supervision of the prosecution in charge of terrorism and extremism cases, with a view to identifying all their terrorist plans and projects and to elucidate possible ramifications with other terrorist organizations abroad.
