Gilbert Leonard added: “I had the honor of leading and coordinating the restoration work. A thank you to the people who helped with the diagnosis, assembling the files and carrying out the work (Editor's note: DRAC, department, the region, Roger Blot, diocese, Heritage Foundation).”

The restoration began with the sacristy, the chasuble, the electricity, the stained glass windows and the pulpit dated 1694. “The predella (ex-antependium) made the headlines. It was while dismantling the woodwork of the sacristy that the workers noticed shreds of paint, under newspaper, glued to the back of a confessional,” continues Gilbert Léonard. Everything is confessed and forgiven: the predella and its angels are on the stone hotel, below the 14th century stained glass window.

Gilbert Léonard announced the cost of the work: €96,462 excluding tax. Subsidies must be deducted: Cultural Affairs, Region, Department, i.e. €59,923. €36,539 remains self-financing. The deputy mayor and the heritage foundation collected private donations (53 donors present in the church) €9,422. “Beyond the financial aspect, it is the state of mind and the dynamism that surrounded the project,” concludes Gilbert Léonard.
