LEISURE / An event which highlights this small late pear, a true treasure of the Alpes de Haute-Provence region.

– Alpes de Haute-Provence –

This Sunday, La Javie will host the 18th edition of the Sarteau Pear Fair, an event which highlights this small late pear, a true treasure of the Alpes de Haute-Provence region. The Sarteau Pear, known for its firm flesh and ideal for confectionery, is an emblematic product whose reputation continues to grow. For more than 20 years, the La Javie Autreviens association has worked to preserve this local variety by harvesting and transmitting grafts, thus allowing Sarteau type pear trees, as well as other varieties such as Rouge de La Javie and Champ Good guy, to continue. This fall, come discover and taste the sweets and preserves made from Sarteau pears prepared by the inhabitants of La Javie. This will be an opportunity to support local producers and celebrate ancestral know-how that is the pride of the region.
