Tuesday October 29, Le Courrier de l'Ouest relayed the results of a DNA analysis carried out by the Conservation Genetics Laboratory of the University of Liège (Belgium) on a corpse of a large canine discovered in May 2021 near Beaupréau, in the Mauges. Requested by an amateur naturalist, administrator of the Facebook page “Return of the wolf to Maine-et-Loire”, these results concluded with 100% certainty that it was indeed a wolf, Johan Michaux, the laboratory director, confirmed to us.
