Taking place almost anonymously compared to other competitions like Miss France, Miss Curvy allows women with curves to experience a great and beautiful adventure. A competition reserved for women of size 42 and over, aged between 18 and 40, in which participants participate Alison Thierrya resident of Neufmoulin, close d’Abbeville.
A mother of 3 children
Alison, a 30-year-old mother of three children, will be the only representative from the Somme. A few days before the regional election which will take place on Saturday November 2 in Brasles (Aisne), the young woman spoke about her journey.
Before, there was no question of showing myself in a swimsuit.
“The main motivation for registering for this competition is to restore my confidence. I also did it for my first daughter who also has curves. And I don't regret it. Miss Curvy Picardie is a year of preparation during which we do photo shoots, mirror workshops where we say what we like and don't like about ourselves, coaching sessions…”
The Samarian candidate explains: “Until August, we had two Sundays per month of preparation and since September, it's every Sunday to work on the choreographies, the different passages, the speech. During the election, the show will last three hours. A lot of work and work on myself. »
For this Miss competition, the most feared passage remains that in a swimsuit. A step for which the candidates have been prepared for several months. “Before, there was no question of me showing off in a swimsuit. Now it's okay. We did photo shoots in swimsuits and we are all ready even if there is a little apprehension. Being able to parade in a swimsuit on a stage in front of an audience was unthinkable before. It's a pride to be able to do it. I even managed to put a photo of myself in a swimsuit on my Facebook page! »
Self-confidence such that Alison participated in the fashion show organized by the city center merchants' association Les vitrines d'Abbeville on the occasion of Pink October in a crowded Saint-André cultural space.
Supported by her partner, proud of her
A sustained pace for this competition, especially since the preparations are taking place in Aisne. Fortunately, Alison is supported by her family: “it’s not easy to reconcile this preparation with family life and motherhood. I left every Sunday. Fortunately, I am supported and helped by my partner who takes care of the house in my absence. And what's more, he's proud of me. »
The Neufmoulinoise will be in the running with eight other candidates from the region to win the scarf. Although the title of Miss Curvy Picardy would fill her with joy, Alison doesn't dream of a crown every night. “Even if I don’t have a sash, I know I would have won my year. I will have learned a lot and I will be happy for the winner who will be qualified for Miss Curvy France scheduled for April 2025 in Bordeaux. »
Now I'm more comfortable with my body.
Radiant and motivated, Alison says she is delighted with this experience: “now, I am more comfortable with my body. I feel good. This competition shows that we are all different and that it is not a body that makes a personality. » An adventure that she recommends to other women with generous shapes: “we take great pleasure. Don't hesitate to register. It's very enriching. »
Miss Curvy Picardie will be elected with the vote of the public present at the election, with votes by SMS and by the jury which will only be revealed on November 2.
