the Olympic flame in Loire-Atlantique, from the south of Nantes to La Baule

She is back in Pays de la Loire. After igniting Vendée yesterday, the Olympic flame is in Loire-Atlantique this Wednesday, June 5, before the start of the Paris Olympics.

• Seven stages in Loire-Atlantique. At the heart of the two months of the flame’s journey in France, seven towns will be the scene of the festivities: Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, Vertou and Basse-Goulaine; three from the community of communes of the Pays d’Ancenis: Ligné, Ingrandes-Le-Fresne-sur-Loire (Maine-et-Loire) and Vallons-de-l’Erdre. Finally, La Baule-Escoublac, a celebration site where the Olympic cauldron will be set alight.

• Expected personalities. 93 porters will take turns, including celebrities and high-level athletes. In Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, we will see the former disabled swimmer Philippe Revillon; the distinguished archer Bruno Geffroy, in Basse-Goulaine, or Jonas Bourigault, 19 years old, French hammer throwing champion, in Ingrandes-Le-Fresne-sur-Loire. In La Baule, we can see the tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the actress Virginie Ledoyen and the former footballer Christian Karembeu.

• An apotheosis in La Baule. At the start of the evening, at 6:18 p.m., the large beach of La Baule will be the last scene of the Olympic procession in Loire-Atlantique. The seaside resort has been designated as a stopover town, hosting the cauldron which will collect the flame at the end of this day of relay, at Place des Salines, at 7:20 p.m. Mission which falls to rider Roger-Yves Bost, medalist of Olympic team gold in Rio in 2016.
