Météo-France confirms it: the month of October was very, very, very rainy in Limousin! For Corrèze, 175 millimeters of water were recorded compared to 109 millimeters on average. For Creuse, 159 millimeters instead of 87 millimeters usually observed that month. And in Haute-Vienne, 155 millimeters for an average of 97 millimeters. “Which gives on average ratios to normal of around +60% in Corrèze and Haute-Vienne, +80% in Creuse” notes Joël Gueusquin of Météo-France Limoges Bellegarde.
“We are in a very rainy year” he continues, explaining “thatAt the end of October, we are seeing quantities of rain greater than what we usually observe over a full year.“. As a result, “everything that happens in November and December will be a bonus, or rather a surplus” he continues. “Clearly the year is going to be in surplus. And for agricultural work, the fact of having had significant rainy episodes has disrupted activity, whether for the corn or sunflower harvest, or even for the first sowings since we found himself again with soils that were waterlogged by mid-October” explains Joël Gueusquin again. “Luckily, we returned there in a drier and sunny period, which will allow us to catch up a little on the delay that had been made.“.
A little less sun but milder weather
The sunshine, in fact, was of course at half mast, especially at the beginning of the month, but the period of the last eight days made it possible to rebalance a little the deficit of sunshine of the first fortnight. In the end, the sun deficit over the entire month of October will “only” be around 10%.
Finally, in terms of temperatures, the month of October was very mild: in Brive for example, we measured a excess of +2.7 degrees compared to the normal average. It is +2.1 degrees in Guéret and +1.9 degrees in Limoges. “We are not in record values, but we are clearly in a very mild month, and here we end in almost summer weather” concludes Joël Gueusquin. Which should last a few more days.
