A 70-year-old man dies after being hit by a train in Gratibus, in the east of the Somme

The firefighters intervened at 11:48 a.m. this Thursday, October 31 in the town of Gratibus, in the east of the Somme. A train and a car collided in rue du Marais. The passenger in the car, a 70-year-old man, died instantly, Bleu Picardie learned, confirming information from Courrier Picard. There are no other victims.

Traffic is blocked between and Compiègne, in both directions

The Somme gendarmes are still on site. According to initial information, the car was on the tracks when the train hit it. And the security barriers were down. The train was traveling in the direction towards Amiens.

Neither the train driver, very shocked by the collision, nor the 51 passengers on the train were treated by emergency services. The travelers got off the train and were able to return to Amiens by bus.

The accident damaged the rails. SNCF indicates to France Bleu Picardie that train traffic between Amiens and Compiègne is therefore blocked in both directions. Estimates predict a return to normal late in the evening this Thursday, October 31, that is to say around 6:30 p.m.
