The avenue of infanticide is favored “in a context of childcare that the mother wanted exclusively for her benefit” said the Quimper prosecutor's office.
A seven-year-old child and his mother were found dead last week in Finistère, BFMTV.com learned from the Quimper prosecutor's office, confirming information from Ouest-France. The path of infanticide followed by suicide is favored at this stage.
The mother wanted sole custody
The gendarmes first discovered the child's body in a vehicle in Crozon on Wednesday October 23. His mother was found dead the next day a few kilometers further on a beach in the Brest region. They launched the search after receiving the alert from the family, according to Ouest-France.
“The avenue of infanticide is favored in a context of child custody that the mother wanted exclusively for her benefit, the parents being separated,” specified Jean-Luc Lennon, deputy public prosecutor of Quimper.
Autopsies of the bodies were carried out. “Regarding the child, we are awaiting the return of the toxicological assessments, the causes of death not being formally established at this stage,” said the magistrate.
