They are young, they are just in their twenties, they are from here and yet, they are interested in designers, creators, urban planners and other architects from around the world.

Ian Frappa, 21 years old and Baptiste Rivet, 20 years old, have just launched the first copy (a model) of the quarterly magazine Creato. The two young people are now based in Puy-en-Velay and Landos respectively. Both high school students at Anne-Marie Martel in Puy-en-Velay in professional sales, their respective backgrounds led them to work together on this project for a paper magazine. A daring project at a time when the magazine press is suffering, and into which the two friends are currently putting all their energy.

The art of cultural innovation!

Creato is a magazine dedicated to design, art and history. It’s the art of cultural innovation,” says Ian Frappa, who takes on the role of editor-in-chief of the magazine, and Baptiste, that of marketing and logistics management.
The idea was launched by Ian in November 2023 and five months later, the first issue, the first model of Creato, is already in their hands. A model that they went to present together in Italy, for three days in April, at the international furniture fair in Milan.

Attract paper or digital subscribers

“I wanted to do something qualitative, that resembles me,” explains Ian, who initially launched a marketing agency for interior architects and designers. He started the adventure Creato alone before being quickly joined by his friend Baptiste. Together, they traveled across Europe and France to the biggest events dedicated to design. “We had openings, exhibitions, trade fairs. The idea was to meet people, to share our project, to make ourselves known to brands. » An Instagram page was launched and now has more than 7,000 subscribers. “It’s starting to please people, to interest people. We have world-famous artists who wanted to be in this first magazine! It was definitely a lot more artistic at first. Today, it is really the design that we have mainly targeted. »

A second issue expected for June

To succeed in making a living from it, the two young people hope to quickly attract a large number of subscribers. “We now offer subscription sales on the web.” Because the second copy is in preparation, even more successful than the first. It is expected for the month of June and will have 144 pages. “We hope it will be perfect!” » Creato should also be found on newsstands and in bookstores. “We want to make a beautiful magazine, with beautiful photos. The idea is to offer a magazine that can be kept,” says Ian. Large historical sections, with portraits of great architects and designers, are on the program.

The first issue thus devotes several pages to Le Corbusier, famous architect and town planner internationally renowned for the creation – among others – of the housing unit and the church in Firminy. “We don’t want to become a simple catalog, but a historical magazine with images, and not just current affairs.” The objective is ambitious, but realistic: to reach a thousand subscriptions then 5,000 by next year. The price of the annual subscription for four issues has been set at 65.90 euros for the paper edition and 25.90 euros for the digital edition.

Contact. All information and subscriptions to the magazine are available on the website: www.creatopress.com. At the same time, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to help them make this project a reality and ends in two months now, on www.kisskissbankbank.com.
