On the model of the CRS 8

The Republican Security Company (CRS) 82 was created in November 2023following the riots of June after the death of Nahel, and is based on the model of the CRS 8, created in July 2021, explains the national police on the Ministry of the Interior website. The CRS 8 was exceeded and exhausted in 2023 by all-out deployments everywhere in France.

Rapid deployment

Indeed, the objective of these companies is to be ready to leave their base in a few dozen minutes, then only have a few hours of travel to intervene very quickly in areas affected by violence and to stay in the area for a few days.

The “new generation” brigade 82 has therefore taken up residence in Saint-Herblainnear Nantes, and extends throughout the Great West, from Brittany to Gironde.

Several missions

“Specifically organized, equipped and trained”continues the national police, these CRS units are “priority committed” on missions of:

• Maintenance and restoration of order;
• Fight against urban violence and riots;
• Assistance and reinforcement to other national police departments.

“The creation of these new intervention units makes it possible to respond quickly to degraded situations throughout the territory. »

A particular operation

The CRS 82 is organized in two entities: each works every other week. The company is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “Thanks to this operation by section, they adapt to the format of interventions according to the evolution of the situation,” further notes the national police.

Numerous coordinated and targeted operations

One of the specificities of this unit is its deployment for coordinated and targeted operations or “net square” operations desired by Emmanuel Macron.

From its first days of existence, CRS 82 carried out an anti-drug operation in the metropolis of Nantes, Wednesday November 29, 2023. Three weeks later another operation called “Place Net”, the police and the CRS 82 had carried out a new action in several districts of Rennes, Thursday December 21, 2023.

The 11th January 2024, she was already back in Rennes in several neighborhoods. The 18thfor her part, was in Vannes. Tuesday February 13the seventh operation since November 2023 in Rennes took place in the Villejean and Cleunay districts. Wednesday February 14the CRS had found weapons and drugs in the Blosne and Maurepas districts.

After the shooting on the night of Saturday March 9 to Sunday March 10 in the Blosne district of Rennes, the company was once again deployed.

In August 2024, a new police operation mobilized CRS 82 personnel in the Maurepas and Blosne districts.

A few days ago, the CRS 82 was still on the ground, in Alençon, for a new Place Nette operation.

A useful temporary deployment?
