Train traffic between Alès (Gard) and La Bastide – Saint-Laurent-les-Bains (Lozère) is interrupted until Thursday October 31, following severe weather over the weekend. While waiting for the recovery, replacement coaches are being put in place.
Train traffic is completely interrupted between Alès (Gard) and La Bastide – Saint-Laurent-les-Bains (Lozère) in both directions, announced the SNCF in Occitanie at midday on Monday, October 28. This traffic disruption is the result of the bad weather which hit the departments of the Mediterranean coast over the weekend.
Several departments had been placed by Météo France on yellow alertsee orange, for risks of rain, floods, thunderstorms, and high water. The alerts were almost all lifted on Sunday evening. Only Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales are still under surveillance this Monday. In Gard, the bridges, which had been closed to traffic, are gradually reopening.
Coaches replacing trains between Gard and Lozère
Bad weather over the weekend brought significant rainfall to some parts of the territory. A landslide caused by heavy rains caused the derailment of a TER between Génolhac (Gard) and Villefort (Lozère), in the Saint-André-Capcèze sector, Friday October 25 around 7 p.m. Traffic has since been disrupted.
The SNCF is now able to provide an outlook for a return to normal train traffic between Gard and Lozère. The resumption of traffic is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, at 6 p.m. Until then, SNCF is setting up replacement coaches to ensure continuity of travel for users of the line.
