Senegal adopts a three-year plan for aquaculture

The National Aquaculture Agency (ANA) announced on Friday in Saly (west) that it had developed a three-year action plan (2025-2027) for the implementation of its development strategy for the aquaculture sector.

Agents of the ANA and research institutes of the Ministry of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure, as well as representatives of state partner institutions took part in the development of the plan.

”Today, we are here to restore aquaculture […] We want to intensify production by attracting investors,” said Samba Ka, director general of the National Aquaculture Agency.

He assures that the aquaculture sector will receive more resources from the State during the implementation of the three-year plan.

Funding will be intended for the production of fry and the training of aquaculturists, promised Mr. Ka, announcing important future research activities for this sector.

”We are happy to have been involved. We took the opportunity to show the supervisory ministry what we are able to provide,” she said.

Ms. Sarr assures that the association she heads will take ownership of the three-year plan and the aquaculture development strategy.
