In the din of unfortunate news, we can always count, for peace of mind, on the prose of the city of Geneva. The latter is launching a courageous campaign against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. Geneva, “sustainable city for coughs!”, has therefore posted some obvious truths on the walls of the city, such as this one: “Did you know that climate change particularly impacts LGBTIQ+ people?” Well, I admit that no.

Faced with the imminent risk that threatens my gay friends – who are also appalled by this poster – I looked into the duly sourced argument of our municipal authorities. In approximate syntax, they explain to us that climatic and natural disasters are causing an increase in violence against this community, loss of housing and means of subsistence as well as forced displacement. It is so true that LGBTIQ+ people are victims of inequalities prior to future scourges. From here I can see the sad rainbow procession crossing the Bardonnex customs to migrate to Haute-Savoie. A picture whose plausibility leaves no doubt as long as we imagine the rise in the waters of Lake Geneva following a devastating tornado or an invasion of crickets immune to Syngenta and which would have raked the wheat fields.

Le Temps publishes columns, written by members of the editorial staff or external people, as well as opinions and columns, proposed to personalities or requested by them. These texts reflect the point of view of their authors. They in no way represent the position of the media.
