Tarascon-sur-Ariège. New residents welcomed during an evening

Friday evening, the Seniors club room hosted the traditional ceremony dedicated to the new inhabitants of Tarascon. Around forty people responded to the invitation from Alain Sutra, mayor of the city, and his municipal team, to meet those who have chosen to settle in Tarascon.

“At the service of our fellow citizens”

A short film designed by the communications department presented them with an overview of the services and the main associative partners such as the MJC, the Senior Leisure Area, the Twinning Committee and the Tourist Office. Then, the mayor presented his vision for the future of Tarascon, combining an ambitious social policy (free school materials, school meals at €1.50 maximum) with an essential cultural policy (summer shows and open-air cinema, often free ).

Questions and answers

Some people raised specific concerns, including the lack of disabled parking spaces, the renovation of some streets and sidewalks, the elevator project for the old town, as well as the restoration of the old buildings in Place Garrigou. Alain Sutra, as direct as usual, answered everyone without tongue in cheek. The evening concluded with a lively buffet, conducive to strengthening bonds of conviviality.
