After kicking off the expansion of its factory less than a year ago on the sidelines of its 20th anniversary, the company continues its growth by investing nearly three million dollars, thanks to the financial support of Quebec and Ottawa, to increase its production capacity.

“Exxel Polymers is a pioneer in circularity in Quebec. It is a company that helps divert thousands of tons of plastic materials from landfills to revalue them. Knowing that in Canada, there is less than 10% of plastic recycled, the work of Exxel Polymers is crucial to building a greener economy,” indicated at a press briefing the Member of Parliament for Brome-Missisquoi and Minister of Canadian Heritage. , Pascale St‑Onge, on behalf of her colleague Minister of Tourism and head of Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (DEC), Soraya Martinez Ferrada.

The federal government therefore granted the Bromont-based company a loan of one million dollars to continue its growth through CED’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.

For its part, the Quebec government granted a loan of just over $1.4 million via Investissement Québec’s (IQ) ESSOR program. Exxel Polymers also obtained a loan of approximately half a million dollars through IQ’s own funds, mentioned the provincial deputy for Brome-Missisquoi, Isabelle Charest, on behalf of the Minister of the Economy, Innovation and head of regional economic development, Pierre Fitzgibbon.

“In Brome-Missisquoi, we have a creative, innovative and efficient manufacturing sector. The project announced today demonstrates that our region is home to companies that see far ahead and are committed to protecting the environment. It is an undeniable asset for a Quebec that we want to be greener and more prosperous.”

New markets

The Exxel Polymers project will require investments totaling nearly four million dollars. The company plans to create around ten jobs over the coming months. The company also plans to add new equipment and then automate certain others, which will ultimately double the factory’s production capacity.

“We have always been a leader in our industry. To maintain our market share, we must continue to invest. Our customers are asking for more, so we have to acclimatize to meet demand,” mentioned in an interview the president of the company, Éric Fradette, at the head of the organization with his partner, Charles Bourdeau.

Joint financial assistance from Quebec and Ottawa will propel Exxel Polymers to another level. “We gain at least five to ten years in accelerating our growth. We are positioning ourselves for the future,” said the organization’s general director, Hans Fortin.

And this future requires the development of new markets. Starting next fall, Exxel Polymers will begin its foray into the automotive sector. An agreement has already been ratified with Toyota, in particular to supply plastic for certain components of the 2025 Rav4, argued Charles Bourdeau.

The company specializing in the production of high-quality recycled plastics also wishes to obtain the necessary certification to develop the food industry niche.
