From June 14 to 22, 2024, the 35th edition of the Francos of Montreal and several nice surprises are on the program!

While several shows are added to the programming including The Three Agreements, The smiling boot, Alfa Rococo, Aswell, San James, Fredz, Crossing And Alex Burgerthe event has also just announced news that will delight more than one person.

Indeed, the festival has shared that a unique show will take place on June 18 at 8 p.m. on the Bell Sceneeither The little kingsa show that will pay tribute to the deceased Jean-Pierre Ferland.

The singer, who unfortunately passed away in April 2024, will be honored during this grandiose show highlighting his music which marked several generations.

It is moreover Ariane Moffatt who will ensure the staging as well as the artistic direction of the project.

“The words and melodies of Ferland flow through our veins, us, its little queens and kings of all generations. His limitless curiosity, as well as the beauty of his immense repertoire, has inspired us all at one time or another since his work is at the heart of the cultural DNA of the Quebec. We will sing it loud and clear with the festival-goers of the Francos of Montreal to collectively ensure that his poetry remains immortal (…) This evening promises to be a powerful and luminous declaration of love to our Jean-Pierre,” declared Ariane Moffatt with pride for this major event.

For those who wish to see the show, but who unfortunately will not be able to travel to Montreal, it will be broadcast live on the Francos website.

Jean-Pierre Ferland is a pioneer of local music, a builder of Quebec culture. He participated in its awakening, notably with his free and innovative style which characterizes his albums from the 70s and his magnificent way of talking about love. The team of Francos could not miss this celebration, and will open the outdoor site of the festival, which was initially scheduled to be closed on Tuesday June 18, solely to salute this great artist and allow us to together highlight his monumental legacy,” shared Maurin AuxéméryDirector of Programming Francos of Montreal.
