SENEGAL-ECONOMY-ENTREPRENEURSHIP / Fatick: the DER/FJ injected nearly 7 billion FCFA into the region – Senegalese press agency

Fatick, Oct 18 (APS) – The General Delegate for Rapid Entrepreneurship of Women and Youth (DER/FJ) declared, Friday, that around seven billion CFA francs were invested in the region of Fatick (center) for a recovery rate varying between 30 and 33%.

”The DER, in its role of stimulating and promoting the development of growth-promoting sectors, has injected around seven billion. However, the recovery rate to date varies between 30 and 33%. A rate which is not great,” said Aïssatou Mbodji during a meeting of the Regional Development Committee (CRD) on popularization and information on the actions of the DER/FJ.

She indicates that she has obtained the commitment and support of the territorial administration to recover debts in order to reinvest in other sectors of activity.

Among this investment sector, the general delegate cited fishing to combat illegal immigration in the area.

It is also planned to set up a cold room in the central market of Fatick, one of the people’s complaints for the conservation of fish.

The DER/FJ granted 26,041 credits for the benefit of 11,587 beneficiaries from the three departments for an amount of 6,500,796,399 CFA francs in the sectors of livestock breeding, crafts, agriculture, technology and innovation among others .

To better support the actions of the DER/FJ, Governor Ngoné Cissé promised to strengthen awareness among young people in order to dissuade them from illegal immigration and settle them in their land.

“In recent weeks, we have intercepted canoes heading for immigration. And, we are counting on this opportunity offered by the DER to support young people, raise their awareness by making them understand the financing mechanisms that are available for job creation,” she noted.
