On public radio, change is coming. Several columns as well as “La livre francophone” are stopping, while significant budget cuts are requested from the “Grand Dimanche Soir” team.

HASWhile the first decisions taken by the management of France Inter sparked an outcry within the station – journalists and producers alike worried about respecting pluralism on the air – the choices made for the next school year are becoming clearer.

“The Earth Squared” will ultimately continue to film, with Camille Crosnier

Turnaround for Earth squared : Mathieu Vidard announced the end of the program devoted to the environment at the beginning of May, which was to evolve towards a more “narrative”, without Camille Crosnier or the answering machine; the producer confirmed on Sunday that the program, which he has presented since 2019, will ultimately continue well into the fall, with his colleague and messages from listeners. On May 17 on the air, he wanted to thank “warmly” the latter for their words ” Who [leur] did a lot of good and played a very important role in the favorable outcome of our discussions [avec la direction, ndlr] ». The question of reports within the show (those of Giv Anquetil and Anaëlle Verzaux) however still remains unresolved, pending the presentation of a new version of Earth squared end of August.

“The little boats” win one day

Taken over in January 2023 by Camille Crosnier, The little boats went from a weekly half-hour format to three minutes daily last August: “A question before going to sleep at 8 p.m.”, every evening from Monday to Friday. At the start of the school year, she should keep the program, “whose amplitude will extend until Saturday”.

The collective sketches of “Big Sunday evening” deleted?

While columnist Guillaume Meurice is still suspended from the air, the team of Great Sunday evening, presented by Charline Vanhoenacker, continues to defend the show. This could see its budget cut by a third at the start of the school year, with management wanting to remove collective sketches from the program, deemed too costly in terms of royalties. After the strike of May 12, the team chose, on Sunday, to continue to defy the management of Radio France by devoting a significant part of the program to the missing comedian.

Former collaborators of Daniel Mermet thanked

Committed voices of the station, Charlotte Perry (French lives) and Antoine Chao (It’s almost tomorrow) were fired and will no longer be on the air in September. Their ouster illustrates a more general movement targeting reporting: in the current context, explains a management spokesperson, the budget devoted to the latter will now be reserved for journalists from the station’s editorial staff.

“The French-speaking bookstore” stops

After seventeen years on the air, Emmanuel Khérad’s program (who is leaving the station) will not be renewed in September. It will be replaced by “a new program on French-speaking literature in partnership with public French-speaking media”, announced the management of Inter. In a column published by THE Figaro, the Nobel Prize for Literature JMG Le Clézio protested at this choice, as did many French-speaking authors, who took up their pens to deplore this decision in The evening, in Belgium, and The duty, in Quebec.

Cultural chronicles deleted

Benoît Lagane, who provides the column every Sunday at 6:53 a.m. Series time, will no longer be on the air next year, just like Charline Roux, who provided the morning column In the France Inter playlist, confirms management, which advances its “desire to make the grid more readable”.
