The Minister of Ecological Transition and Energy Agnès Pannier-Runacher warned this Friday, October 18, 2024 that if her ministry did not have “the means for (its) action” in the 2025 budget, she “would draw conclusions “.

Concretely, it puts his resignation in the balance.

“We need a budget that is up to the situation and that is not the case today,” she declared, questioned about BFMTV/RMC.

Above all, I want to work on having the means for my action (…) if I don’t have them, I will draw conclusions.

I expect the national representation to take up this subject, I do not know if we still have to wait for tragedies to understand that it is an absolute necessity to invest in adaptation to climate change.

A statement that resonates with the news of these days, after exceptional rain fell on Thursday in the Center-East and South-East of , creating monster damage.

On Wednesday, the Minister of Ecological Transition, interviewed in the National Assembly, judged that her ministry’s budget “was a combat budget”, which “commits us to be more efficient and more selective. »

“In our budgetary context, my ministry will take its part, because I will be a responsible minister,” she indicated. Despite everything, this Friday, Agnès Pannier-Runacher would still like to obtain a little more resources.

A budget yet increasing?

In the finance bill (PLF) for 2025, currently under examination in the National Assembly, the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Energy, Climate and Risk Prevention sees its overall budget increase, passing from 16.78 billion to 19.55 billion.

This increase is explained in particular by “increased support for renewable energies”, we could read in the presentation of the Budget, but also by an increase in commitment authorizations which allow heavy investments for which payment is spread over several years .

However, this increase hides a drop in several devices for individuals. Thus, the PLF 2025 provides for a reduction in aid for thermal renovation (MaPrimeRénov), reduces the support envelope for the purchase of clean vehicles for low-income households and reduces the size of the Green Fund which makes it possible to finance ecological community projects. (it goes from 2.5 billion to 1 billion euros).
